Rockabilly Slap Bass Videos

This post is specifically for John E. who is on his way to becoming one of Sacramento’s premiere doghouse slappers. These quick little snippets helped me out a great deal when I was learning to slap.

Muscle memory is a huge part of slap bass, so it can be difficult to both explain, and understand exactly what is going on with all the notes in there. You have lots of percussive sounds and so few hand movements that it’s impossible to decipher. This short video series by Scott Hinds, slows everything down and shows you exactly what’s going on from the most basic single slap, to the holy grail drag tripelet.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Scott Hinds:

  1. Lesson 1 - Single Slap
  2. Lesson 2 - Double Slap
  3. Lesson 3 - Triple Slap
  4. Lesson 4 - Drag Triplet
  5. Lesson 5 - Putting It All Together

Check out Scott’s website for more Rockabilly bass stuff.  He is a helpful guy.

NOTE: I’m cross posting these files because they are on a slow server. Scott, feel free to contact me if you prefer I didn’t cross post.
