Last Day In The Mines

Today is my last day in the mines. I’ve only been with this company for five or so years (I took a year off by mistake), but it’s still sad to see it disintegrate. I made a few permanent friendships and learned how much better life can be when you do something you love. I can’t say there was a day that I woke up and wasn’t excited to go into work and jump right into what ever project I had going on.

It was definitely time for things to end, though. I don’t mind being candid with my perspective now that my fate is sealed, so I wont.

When the Giguiere’s left, the magic left with them. The people that came in their place were good people, but they failed to see what made the R.H. Phillips Wine Company a unique and inspiring place to work, and that it was completely separate from the behemoth Vincor that was crushing the life from it.

I’m extremely grateful for the experience and the people I got to create with, share music with, and hang out with all these years. Each and every one of them helped me to be a better artist, and showed me how important it is to never compromise the fun out of your work environment. From Macs, to music, to food, to launching corks far into the vineyards from the balcony with the confetti launcher. Work should be fun. I will never work without fun again.
