spontaneous expressions of mediocrity
Two weeks after it’s release, it looks like “From Beale Street to Oblivion” is still only available on Amazon. In CD format.
As a ravenous Clutch fan, and a hater of physical media, I don’t have many options. In a day and age where I can sell my own music recorded in my garage in the iTunes Store, Napster, Emusic.com, etc., it’s ludicrous that a professional touring act would have such trouble with digital distribution.
You’d think that they could get special iTunes treatment, seeing as how Steve Jobs is their bass player, and all.

Drt, I hope you’re listening…
You could stop by Target on the way home and pick it up for $9.99.

Assuming one of the Targets on my way home has it in stock, it would still be in a physical format. I want to listen to the new Clutch songs over and over again. I don’t want to figure out what to do with a bunch of leftover plastic circles.
If I were a fan of Josh Groban, I could begin listening to his new album now–without getting out of my chair. Come on, Clutch. Don’t be pussies. At least step up to Josh Groban’s level.
Buy the CD at Target, burn it, then sell the CD. It will end up cheaper than iTunes, so you can buy somethin’ for the little lady too.
But that is stealing too, Ivan. Ripping and selling is against the rules.
If I’m going to steal, I might as well just do the illegal download thing. I won’t have to deal with the plastic circle, and I can begin listening now, without leaving my chair.
I agree with you 100%. CD clutter drives me crazy. However, I’m not as strong and STOLE it a week before the official release. I’m not proud. But I gotta have my Clutch. I plan on mailing them $15 as a thank you.
BTW, the album kicks arse.
