Predictably Inept

Today, someone emailed me an addition they wanted to be made to the “links page” of their website. This particular “links page” is a directory of resources related to the subject of this site. Each link lists the name of the web site it is linking to, a short description of the site’s purpose, and the logo of the company/organization that the site represents.

The person making the request sent me a logo she wanted to be added to the “links page.”

A logo…

Just a logo…

I responded to this person, asking for the URL she wanted the link to point to. Deep down, I knew she wasn’t thinking that far ahead, but in the off chance this update might go smoother than the rest, I humored her. She said that there wasn’t a web site to link to. I told her that it might be confusing for the visitors of her site to see listings on her “links page” that weren’t actually “links.” She agreed and told me to “link” to her email address.

I believe Marvin the android said it best,

“It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level.”

I seem to have headaches quite often.

There are Marvins for each category! I was quoting Marvin, the Paranoid Android from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
