Pleasant Valley Extravaganza

Sunday, February 25th, 2007 3:23 PM

Yesterday’s Pleasant Valley extravaganza turned out to be pretty darn cool. We kicked off the day at KDVS for a little guest spot on Robyne Fawx’s “Saturday Morning Folk Show.” While we were there, we took the opportunity to set up a camera and film a few of the songs for YouTube posterity.

Reasoning. Calm, Cool Reasoning.

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007 1:54 PM

Steve Jobs just served the world a big fat slice of DRM reality pie:

  • iPods play music purchased from stores besides the iTunes Store.
  • Apple does not lock down music to keep their iPod on the top.
  • 97% of music on iPods was purchased somewhere other than the iTunes Store.
  • 90% of music sold by the “Big 4″ does not have DRM protection.

The biggest, most exciting remark was to urge the industry to put pressure the Big 4 to stop requiring retailers to sell DRM protected music. He backed up this statement by saying that Apple would jump at the chance to sell music in the iTunes Store without DRM protection.

Yesterday, on two separate occasions, I was inclined to clarify the differences between a web framework and PHP. The first situation could actually cost me a nice chunk of change. The second was nearly a slobbering geek-out session over web development smut, but was quickly thwarted by my boy running off into the pizza parlor with a large group of strangers.

Crap

Monday, August 21st, 2006 6:31 AM

This week we open for the Derailers at the Palms, then go to Humboldt to play three four hour sets, in as many nights. Last night, my Band-Aid® crapped out on me in the second song, and I ended up with this…

I Finally Heard Pet Sounds

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006 6:12 AM

I’ve never been much of a Beach Boys fan. I was always turned off by the Pet Sounds fuss made by music nerds. Today, however, I finally listened to the pinnical album. And it only took a few short minutes… I still rather listen to Rammstein.
